My latest international escapade was a wonderful trip to Delhi, India to give a talk at The British Council. My wonderful publishers, Collins have opened a new market, selling to India, and brought me for a visit to celebrate! I spoke at the British Council's gorgeous building in New Delhi, which was live streamed to other Council offices accross India. Here is a link to the video.
I am getting excited about the idea of running a couple of General American workshops this summer. I haven't run any in the last year, because I have been so busy with various other projects, but I'm going to set up a couple for mid July and early September.
I saw John Akomfrah's film The Nine Muses last night at the ICA. It's been a while since I've made a trip to the ICA, I forget what an amazing and exciting institution it is. I've never seen a film like The Nine Muses before, but found it really captivating. It's a non-narrative meditation on migration and travel, told through beautiful snowy images, and ecclectic but excellently chosen poetry extracts.
It's been an exciting and busy few months. I've been putting the final touches to my book 'Work on Your Accent', which is due to be published by HarperCollins in August 2012.
I'm so excited about the project. I've been co-authoring with the wonderful Sarah Shepherd, and with the help of our fantastic editors I think we've created a really useful practical guide. It's going to be a must-have for anyone who speaks English as a second language and wants to learn about British accents and pronunciation.
More to come on that soon. For now, I better get back to work!
